METROLOGISTS OF RUSSIA AND CHINA CONTINUE COOPERATION

MOSCOW, November 27, 2020 – Metrologists of Rosstandart discussed the results of Russian-Chinese work and prospects in the field of accounting and quality control of energy resources. The 9th meeting of the Working subgroup on metrological support of energy resources of the Permanent Russian-Chinese Working group on standardization, metrology, conformity assessment and inspection control was held online on November 23 2020.

The Russian delegation was headed by Anton Gusev, acting head of the Rosstandart Metrology Department, with participation of specialists from the VNIIM n.a. D.I. Mendeleev. The Chinese side was represented by the National Institute of Metrology (NIM) and the oil and gas company PetroChina.

As the participants noted, international projects successfully implemented
in the context of the pandemic showed the high scientific and organizational potential of the two institutions. So, in a difficult situation, were held studies and inter-laboratory comparisons on the content of water in crude oil.

The topic of calorimetry in the oil and gas industry was also discussed based on the results of comparisons of bomb calorimeters in the framework of COOMET on coal samples. VNIIR – a branch of VNIIM n.a. D.I. Mendeleev presented a report on the flowmetry of liquefied natural gas. The joint plans include preparing for comparisons between VNIIM and NIM on measuring the sulfur content in petroleum products and water consumption standards.
